Enter the Abyss.

The Chrome Abyss is a fractured future shaped by power, adaptation and survival — a world where hybrid humans have spread across planets and galaxies in their struggle to persist. At its core sits a deck-building card game, driven as much by narrative and choice as by strategy. On this page, you’ll get a first look at the world we’re building, the kinds of characters who inhabit it, and how play unfolds through cards, chance and hidden intent.

A game in its core.

A deck-builder with narrative depth

The Chrome Abyss: Hybrid Uprising is a competitive deck-building card game where players assemble and evolve their decks over time. Cards represent characters, abilities, territories, augments, missions and events — each one a fragment of the larger world.

Strategy guided by story

Narrative plays an active role in the game. Missions and events introduce conflicts, dilemmas and shifting circumstances, shaping how a match unfolds. It’s not freeform role-play, but a guided narrative exploration — where story emerges through play.

Risk, chance and deception

Dice rolls, secret objectives and betting mechanics introduce uncertainty and tension. Players must balance long-term strategy with short-term risk, never quite knowing who is bluffing, who is planning ahead — and who is about to turn the tide.

In the Abyss, survival is a strategy.

A world shaped by factions.

The Chrome Abyss is not defined by a single truth or authority. It is shaped by competing philosophies, tactics and ways of surviving in a hybrid future. These forces take form through archetypes — each representing a different species, and a different approach to power, control and adaptation. When you choose an archetype, you’re not just choosing a playstyle, but a perspective on the world itself.

Deck-building & progression

Build. Adapt. Hybridise.

Decks in Hybrid Uprising are not static. Characters can be upgraded, augmented and reshaped through play. Abilities unlock new tactics, augments push characters beyond human limits, and territories influence how power is gained and defended. Over time, your deck becomes a reflection of your choices — and your willingness to adapt.

Gameplay & mechanics

Play beyond the visible.

Your dice rolls may be public and not all cards are kept close to one's chest, but not everything is on the table or out in the open. Hidden missions, secret objectives and asymmetric information mean that not all intentions are visible. Players may bluff, mislead or take calculated risks, betting on outcomes that only become clear later. In the Chrome Abyss, what you don’t reveal can be just as powerful as what you play.
